Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone has accused National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah of being desperate to ally with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Lone said Abdullah’s frequent recitations of ‘bhajans’ are not rooted in altruism but rather as a means to remind the BJP of their past camaraderie. “I genuinely believe that he is begging the BJP for an alliance,” Lone said.
The statement has come in the wake of Farooq Abdullah’s recent appearance on a television show where he was seen singing ‘bhajans’. Abdullah has been vocal about inclusivity in his recent speeches and interviews, saying, “No political party has a monopoly over Lord Ram, who belongs to all.”
“I want to say to the whole nation that Lord Rama doesn’t only belong to Hindus. He belongs to everyone in the world. He is the Lord for all the people across the world. It’s written in the books,” Abdullah said.
About the Enforcement Directorate’s summons to Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, Lone said he is advocating for Abdullah’s arrest.
